New England Webcomics Weekend was…uhh…edifying? Edifying and fun. I feel like I have a pretty good idea of what it takes to become a major comic now, and I’m pretty frikkin inspired to work my ass off on OSW. Despite the fact that most of the professionals are incredibly nice, talented people….I hate them so, so much. They get to make their goddamn LIVING by drawing (or writing) comics, and, well, that’s a pretty sweet deal. I did meet a bunch of people in the same boat as me, talented artists and writers who have great ideas and are just starting out on the internet. I met an especially talented cartoonist named Megan Baehr, and holy crap she is GOOD. Check out her art and stories at www.friedwontons.com. I wish I could ink like her. Also, I was lucky enough to spend much of the weekend in the company of four crazy funny guys (who have started a crazy funny photo comic with insanely well written dialogue), rather than wandering alone and overwhelmed in a sea of strangers. Seriously, check out (regularly!) their site, www.worldwasntmeant.com, as it is WONDERFUL. If you like things that are funny and good that is. Plus, I’m going to show up in one of their comics soon! Both these sites and a bunch more will be added to the LINKS page today (as soon as I figure out how) so stop by there if you want visit some (other) awesome places on the grand ol’ interscape.
Expect a page (finally) up this evening, and then…EVERY MONDAY, WEDNESDAY, AND FRIDAY FOR EVER AND EVER.
Yup, I’ve decided to adhere to a stricter update schedule, as it’s pretty apparent that I could use the additional structure. So I’m promising hard work and kick ass pages 3 days a week, barring any extenuating circumstances (which will be addressed and made up promptly).
Also expect a mass email to go out as a sort of ‘official launch’ for OSW pretty soon.
Cheers,
Alex
