Chapter 6: By Jove - page 9
Panel 5 brought to you by that Calvin and Hobbes strip where he imagines he’s a bat. Oh, and that tuber Sam eats, which I grew up calling Indian Cucumber is, in all honesty, that delicious. If those things were bigger and easier to grow and harvest, they would make regular cucumbers OBSOLETE.
I’ll be out of town next week, so there won’t be an OSW update. Probably not even a post-it note. Sorry!

Would it be this plant? If so I had no idea those were for the eating but saw them everywhere in ON, Canada and northern MN.

OK. Quick Note: Don’t eat things you find in the woods based solely on illustrations in an INTERNET CARTOON.
But yeah, Nutz, that is the plant. The second layer of leaves usually means a bigger tuber, though it isn’t always as tasty.

chun, just because you’re on the internet doesn’t mean you can abandon proper terminology: a second layer of leaves makes a “double-decker boocumber.” The triple-decker boocumber exists only in legend… Also, careful with all that “obsolete” talk, as the cucumber industry could come down on you hard.
